Hiring workers ready for Christmas

by | Oct 27, 2020 | News

As we approach Christmas, the jury is out as to whether or not our spending will match prior years but one thing is bound to be certain, online shopping will be make a greater proportion of all spending.

Last year one-third of all spending took place online and expectations are that it will rise this year. Local lockdowns and working from home mean that we are around shops less and more people have become comfortable with shopping online and getting their goods delivered to their door. The opportunity for in-person retail has declined whilst the exposure to the relative ease of online has increased.

Tesco recently announced that they created 16,000 new permanent jobs after they saw huge growth in online sales. The roles were for workers to pick customer orders and delivery drivers to get them to the doors.

With Christmas approaching, more organisations will be doing the same as they will be looking to bolster their workforce to meet the demand.

The Royal Mail are set to hire 33,000 temporary workers to help meeting the demand of online shopping. That is two-thirds more than last year. Roles are available around the United Kingdom in mail sorting offices, along with delivery drivers and logistics roles in hubs such as Heathrow.

How to apply

You can apply via the Royal Mail website here or if you live in the Milton Keynes area you can apply here or in the Northampton area you can apply here.
