Ever wondered what it is that a recruiter or potential employer looks for in a CV? On Thursday, 29th October we conducted our CV writing workshop with Andrea Raven-Hill, Regional Manager for Reed Education. Andrea has been a recruiter for 16 years and has worked for Reed for 12 years. As a recruiter, Andrea has seen thousands of CVs over the years and is able to pick out candidates best suited for the roles she is working on. She shared all this valuable information during the workshop!
In our CV writing workshop, she gave our participants a glimpse into what a recruiter/ potential employer looks for in a CV, so that when they next apply for a role, this information will help them stand out! We also covered the step by step process of creating a CV:
- Creating a summary
- Being Succinct
- Starting strong
- Tailoring the CV, proofreading and providing references
- Cover letter
At the end of the workshop, we welcomed our guest speaker Christopher Yung, Operations Manager at Reed in Partnership, to talk us through the new Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme and how are participants may be able to access this.
